Tim Walz, phony combat vet

Democrat vice presidential pick Tim Walz has lied about his military service, weaseled his way out of a combat deployment to Iraq, then portrayed himself as a combat veteran. If he were a Republican he wouldn’t have been elected dogcatcher, but in today’s Democrat Party that qualifies you for vice president.

Regardless of your feelings about the war in Iraq, Sgt. Major Walz had an obligation to the men he served with. He broke his enlistment contract so he wouldn’t have to go overseas, and because of that, someone else who should have been at home with their family had to fill his spot.

Walz claims he was a command sergeant major (CSM). This is not true. He briefly served as 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery’s CSM. He was “frocked” which means while officially a sergeant major, he was permitted to wear the CSM rank on the condition that he graduate the Army’s Sergeants Major Academy.

He did not.

Walz could have just said he is a retired sergeant major and that would have been just fine. Instead he insults the men who earned the right to be called command sergeant major. Why is this a big deal to veterans? Because brave people fight and f–king die in that uniform and you don’t dishonor them by pretending to be someone or something you are not. Walz abandoned the men he was supposed to have led and calls himself the same title that the man who replaced him in Iraq actually earned.

Stolen valor is not new to Democrats on the national stage. Senator Richard Blumenthal got busted — by the New York Times of all places1In a piece called “Blumenthal’s Words Differ From His History” — the Times can’t bring themselves to say a Democrat lied — for lying about being a Vietnam veteran during his 2010 senate campaign. While more than 58,000 Americans were dying in Vietnam, Blumenthal received five deferments then served stateside as a Marine reservist. He’s a senator now. The Communist soldiers we fought against deserve more respect than the Marxists we send to Washington.

Alternative media wasn’t much of a threat in 2010 when Blumenthal was lying about his service, but it is delusional to think that in 2024 a national political figure can do the same and get away with it. Especially when you are the commander-in-chief of the branch that you served in. You must think differently when you know the news media will protect you and nearly everyone from the unit Walz abandoned is gone.

While campaigning for governor Walz was pitching gun control to his the audience: “We can make sure those weapons of war, that I carried in war, are only carried in war.” Walz had his chance to carry a weapon in war, but he quit the unit. The closest he came was when his regiment deployed to Europe in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

Keep in mind Walz swore the oath of enlistment, compelling him to support and defend the United States Constitution. Sure, far-left members of “The Squad” have no regard for the Constitution, but you’d expect more from someone who spent 20 years in uniform as an enlisted man.

Look, most Democrat voters aren’t going to know one rank from another or care whether he served in combat. The Democrat Party knows veterans are only around 5 percent of voters, and that number is shrinking. The media and Big Tech will prevent Americans from finding out anything negative about Walz, just like they did with the Hunter Biden Laptop story four years ago. You might even see another letter from 51 intelligence experts warning that criticism of “Tampon Tim” is Russian disinformation. Because the people really running the country know that to stand a chance on election day, even with massive amounts of voter fraud, Kamala Harris needs a folksy, Midwestern, veteran guy to disguise her party’s Marxism.

While it won’t likely shift political opinions, it’s good to see the once-feckless Republican Party has the guts to expose this fraud. But we need to manage expectations: the country is too polarized for this to make a serious dent in the polls. Democrat voters won’t hear about it, those who do won’t care, and those that do have been convinced that Donald Trump is Adolf Hitler reincarnate so what difference does it make? All we can do at this point is vote like our lives depend on it to keep the stolen valor out of the White House come January.
