Fairchild T-46

The twin-engine T-46 was Fairchild’s submission to replace the Air Force’s aging T-37 Tweet.

A rather interesting aircraft, this trainer prototype somewhat resembles Fairchild’s A-10 Warthog from the side. Production costs swelled, spelling an end to the T-46. T-37s would remain in service another two decades as Air Force trainers, until they were phased out for Beechcraft T-6 Texan IIs beginning in 2001.
