Long-time West Point assistant coach Henry O. “Fats” Ellinger has died from a heart attack (see page 2). Ellinger played guard for Army from 1922-1924 and returned to the club as an assistant coach in 1925. He was Army head coach Earl “the Red” Blaik’s right-hand man for years… On page 3, Chicago Tribune publisher — and World War veteran — Robert McCormick has been called a traitor on the House floor. His newspaper ran the story publishing America’s war strategy against Germany just before the attack at Pearl Harbor… War Department communiques 100 and 101 on page 4…
Page 7 reports that the radar operator who reported the waves of enemy aircraft approaching Oahu on Dec. 7 has been promoted to sergeant and has received the Distinguished Service Medal. Sgt.
