Michael E. Blotter’s Silver Star citation

The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the SILVER STAR MEDAL to

PRIVATE MICHAEL E. BLOTTER, JR., USMCR.,

for service as set forth in the following

CITATION:

“For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving with the First Marine Raider Battalion in action against enemy Japanese forces on Tulagi, Solomon Islands, August 7, 1942.In spite of wounds received during a daring marine raider attack, Private Blotter courageously maneuvered himself to a position which enabled him to throw hand grenades into a Japanese gun emplacement. By his heroism and skill he contributed materially to the advancement of his company and the subsequent destruction of the enemy. His conduct was in keeping with the highest tradition of the United States Naval Service.”
