On the front page: the Marines are driving the Japanese defenders on Tulagi… Pictured on page two is Maj. Gen. Johnathan Wainwright, now in Japanese captivity. More Corregidor prisoners are pictured on page five… Lt. Charles L. McClure, navigator for The Ruptured Duck of the Doolittle raid on Tokyo is pictured on page ten. He tells his story on page eight of the Nov. 13, 1942 Chronicle

Page four shows Clark Gable taking the oath of enlistment. The article mentions the famous actor is visibly nervous. Perhaps because Gable is leaving the life of silver screen icon behind and he is about to become just a 40-year-old high school dropout with dentures. Private Gable will march and sweat and endure all that is Army training in South Florida, alongside men half his age…

Crew 7 (left to right): McClure, Ted Lawson, Bob Clever, Dean Davenport, and David Thatcher.

Page ten also features an account of the Canadian ship that captured a disabled German U-boat during a storm… Sports section begins on page 22
