A Lewis Atchinson column recalls when Chief Petty Officer Rabbit Maranville 1Maranville is currently serving in his second world war, in Gene Tunney’s physical fitness program quarterbacked the USS Pennsylvania‘s football team. Maranville also played shortstop for the battleship’s baseball team. He played for the Boston Braves before and after the World War and finally hung up his cleats in 1935.
