On today’s front page, American soldiers are in Canada to begin work on the Alaskan Highway… Page two reports heavy Japanese losses off New Guinea. Vice Adm. Wilson Brown Jr.’s Task Force 11, ships from Rear Adm. Frank Jack Fletcher’s Task Force 17, Royal Australian Air Force Lockheed Hudsons, and U.S. Army Air Force B-17s all combined to target Japanese vessels. Pres. Roosevelt called the strike “the best day’s work we’ve had…”
