With the 1941 football season over for Navy and the Midshipmen have voted Alan R. Cameron as their captain. Cameron previously served in the Marine Corps Reserve and will serve aboard the destroyer USS Drayton in the Pacific during the war… On page five the Germans are bragging about sinking the Australian cruiser HMAS Sydney with their infamous raider Kormoran. What they don’t share is that Kormoran, which had sunk nine ships and captured another while prowling the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, lured the Australian ship in close by posing as a Dutch merchant vessel, then carried out a surprise attack that quickly sunk their unprepared foes. Sydney did inflict mortal damage on the raider, which was scuttled, but all hands were lost…
