‘TALLY-HO!’
Messerschmidt’s Bf 110 (commonly referred to as the Me 110) was a highly versatile fighter-bomber that operated from the invasion of Poland in 1939 to the end of World War II. The Zerstörer flew escort, reconnaissance, strike, and air superiority missions before settling into its role as a dominant night fighter.
Prof. Willy Messerschmidt’s first twin-engine military aircraft got its speed from 12-cylinder, liquid-cooled Daimler Benz DB 605 engines which produced 1,350 h.p. each.
To answer today’s question, the radio call “Tally-ho!” notified Royal Air Force pilots and their controllers that enemy aircraft have been spotted and they are about to engage.
