Former Chicago Cub player/manager Gabby Hartnett is now with the New York Giants and is pictured on the front page with Carl Hubbell at spring training. Hartnett is most famous for hitting baseball’s most-famous walk-off home run — the “Homer in the Gloamin'” as the ballgame between the Cubs and Pirates was about to be called for darkness. Hartnett was next to Babe Ruth when he supposedly “called the shot” in the 1932 World Series. He was a six-time All-Star and was catching when Hubbell struck out five future Hall of Famers in a row — Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Al Simmons, and Joe Cronin — in the 1934 All-Star Game…
