F-94 Starfire
Lockheed modified their existing T-33 Shooting Star trainer into the F-94 Starfire by adding guns and a short-range radar. Introduced in 1950, the Starfire became the United States’ first all-weather jet interceptor, and was also the first production fighter equipped with an afterburner — capable of reaching 630 miles per hour with its Allison J33 engine.
