    Sharon-

Please contact me. I have very detailed information regarding a different W.Eugene Smith photo that was taken on Okinawa. This second photo was probably taken within a few hours of the Terry Moore photos. If Mr. Winkler is still alive, he may be able to verify some of the information that I have. Previously, I was not aware W. Eugene Smith had an assistant.

    Thankyou

Has anyone a copy of this magazine?

  • Is Terry Moore still living? I don’t know how to find out. Lloyd Minkler is my uncle.

  • Lloyd Minkler was his assistant. He is mentioned in the article. Lloyd is still living and in Smith Center, Kansas.

    Captions wrong.

SOLDIERS name is PFC. Terry Moore of Fox Company 184th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division.

    W. Eugene Smith’s 18 June 1945 article in LIFE “24 hours with Infantryman Terry Moore”-“Wonderful Smith tells us about advancing through the mud and getting hit by a Mortar Fragment”

The story was 24 hours of an Army Infantryman on Okinawa. W.Eugene Smith was later very seriously wounded
