Cyberwarfare declared against Joe Wilson

Joe Wilson, the South Carolina representative that called Obama a liar during his address to Congress, has reportedly been attacked by politically-motivated hackers during a campaign fundraising drive. Computerworld reports that on Friday, Wilson’s site was hit with a distributed denial-of-service attack, much like the Russians do to their enemies.

The attack couldn’t have come at a worse time as Wilson had been getting 100 transactions a minute and had already received over $100,000 when the site went down.

According to Computerworld:

The incident appears to be one of the rare instances of a politically motivated attack against a Web site in the U.S., said Kirsten Dennesen, an intelligence analyst with VeriSign’s iDefense Labs.

Joe Wilson is an American patriot. He served in the Army Reserve in the 1970s, and retired a Colonel in South Carolina’s National Guard in 2003 (the only member of Congress serving in the Guard at the time).  All four of his sons are Eagle Scouts, and all are serving in the military.
