TO
TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE LE ROY E. KINGSBURY

CITATION:

Technician Fifth Grade Le Roy E. Kingsbury, 36412993, Medical Department, Medical Detachment, 411th Infantry Regiment. For heroism in action. During the daylight hours of 22 November 1944, in the vicinity of * * * , France, Technician Kingsbury, medical aid man attached to Company “L”, was pinned to the ground by severe enemy mortar and sniper fire. Heeding the cries of a wounded comrade he left his place of cover, courageously crawling over 65 yards of fire-swept terrain to aid the injured man. Completely oblivious of the devastating enemy fire, he, with utter disregard for his life, braved the hail of fire and succeeded in reaching his comrade’s side. He administered first aid efficiently and expeditiously although bullets raked the area where he stood. As a result of Technician Kingsbury’s display of magnificent valor in the face of enemy fire, his wounded comrade’s life was saved. Residence: Woodland, Michigan.
