- On January 8th, during the forenoon, “Marauder” medium bombers (Martin B-26) with “Airacobra” (Bell P-39) escort bombed the Japanese airfield at Munda on New Georgia Island. Results were not reported.
- During the night of January 8th-9th, U. S. aircraft again bombed enemy positions in the Munda area. A probable hit on an antiaircraft battery on Munda Point was reported.
- All U. S. planes returned safely from the above missions.
