Paterno is a bad guy...he didn't call the cops and even allowed the rapist to have free run of a shower facility in order to continue his rapes.

This will make some here very happy.
Quote
Scott Paterno says in a statement provided to The Associated Press by a family representative that the 84-year-old Joe Paterno is undergoing treatment and that “his doctors are optimistic he will make a full recovery.”

This might seem unusual, but we never had a problem with the gay men sodomizing the kids which seems to have happened in this case.

Seems it would have been a whole lot better to have done the right thing.
For those who think Joe had done enough, I wonder what you would have done in his shoes.!

Miller weren't you a school teacher? I have to say, I am disappointed to know how you would have handled such a situation if you witnessed another teacher raping a child. And this folks is how our education system is all about the children?
I don't want a drawn out argument with you and will not get into or respond to a rant. You have lowered yourself to a low level in my respect but I am sure you would not lose any sleep over that either.

Nice. An example once again. Makes me glad not to be a resident of the state of Pennsylvania, or have had a child in any of your schools or universities. And for the record, you don't know what I know about the law of that state. I just wonder if you teach kids to report to a teacher who can "follow the law". This "pig" has you blocked, so you can save your wrestling skills.

What a fine example of an NEA gentleman. You should really be proud on yourself.

I hope I have not offended anyone as I consider all of you as my friends. Please take this as a friend talking to a friend and not as an adversary.

For with what judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Matt 7:2
We are further to "judge righteous judgement."
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgement. John 8:24
So, yes, we are in fact called to judge, but with a caveat - "righteous judgement."
I don't know, nor does anyone else here, all the facts. Let's not forget the most important element here - the young, innocent kids involved. They appear to have been forgotten in the rush to blame.
There is enough guilt and blame to go around. Sandusky, Paterno, Penn State officials, etc., etc.
I agree wholeheartedly that, although Paterno appears to have followed the letter of the law, he did not follow the most basic law - protect our kids. As the most visible person involved, he may have been thrown under the bus by Penn State...

GM, In many ways we are failing our children (I'm speaking of soceity at large) and failing to protect our children. The Penn State situation sticks out like a sore thumb and the actions of the University Board to rectify the situation is to be commended. I agree with your post.

Why do the good men do nothing? Save a job. And save legal defense money.
They would rather let terrible things happen to kids.
To those involved in both the actions and the inactions (I know that isn't put together with the best wording)... Pitiful. At Best.
To those defending the inactions which cause such damge - to kids especially... Even worse. As you empower evil.
Terrible to read some of the stuff here.

I'm sure that's what the parents of the kids think.... "Oh well. He did all he could do by telling his superiors and one Police dept."
Again. Terrible to read such stuff here.
