One good reason to have a CCW permit.

I have one, 'CCW" permit, but usually do not carry a handgun on my person, usually in the car. The agony of carrying a hand gun on your person, is to uncomfortable. Cops get paid to do it, and even then, off duty, it stays in their car, unless you are a rookie, and they even carry it, when they go to take a leak.

The agony of carrying...I am not sure I understand what you mean.

I carry, legally, any time I am off base. Never felt agony; sure did feel safer.

crankyoldguy, never heard this before, that carrying a hand gun on your person caused no problem. You have to wear certain clothes, extra weight hanging on your body, what do you do when you have to take a crap? A belly band, shoulder rig, inside your belt, outside your belt, in a boot, on your calf? Only a nut would carry one unless he were getting paid well to do it. Only young rookies and wanna be cops go to that much trouble. Been there, done that, and it ain't worth it.

"Only a nut would carry one unless he were getting paid well to do it. "

I don't buy that. I've been carrying since 91 or so. Never had someone call me a nut for doing so... :)

I guess my payment is safety and security of my family.

I use either a shoulder rig or an SOB holster. I do notice the extra weight...it reminds me of the fact that I do have a weapon. Not a bad thing in my opinion.

Cranky, I really did not mean to insult you, if I did, I apologize.

Eb, at this very moment I am looking at my Smith&Wesson airweight five shot with a hammer shroud. Great little handgun, 75 bucks new, in "1970".

I tried CCW, but couldn't get my bow and arrer under my tee shirt. Not to mention trying to hide the tomahawk.

I have to chuckle on this one. A guy dubbed as the village gunsmith saying only an idiot would carry concealed.

Granted, nothing is more powerful than using your head to stay out of trouble, but those folks had no idea they should always go through the drive through...

I just hope enough responsible, law abiding citizens carry concealed enough to make folks THINK there's someone with enough power to take them out if they decide to 'go postal'.

I can only hope this was mostly in jest.

CP

I live mostly in South Florida, I wear mostly Levi's and a tee shirt. I do not like to have the butt of a gun sticking out of my shirt. At that point it is no longer concealed. If you like the feel of a hand gun sticking you in the side while between your body and waistband, by all means go for it. I drive an expensive car and I pity anyone who would try to carjack it. If I go into a bad part of town I make arrangements to wear the proper clothing to carry a weapon. And by the way, if you were referring to me, I am not a gunsmith, but I have been trained to use one.

Trained on the use of a Gunsmith???? Sounds like a Gov't educational program. :pound:
Kidding... of course.

AS WAS MENTIONED by YOU and others.... there are other ways to carry concealed than tucked into the waistband. So, the 'comfort' part is easily overcome in my opinion.

Anyway, this statement is the only one we need to address. Everything else I consider a diversion...

Once again, I can only hope this was in jest.

CP, Show me where I made this quote. Are you for real? I went back through this thread and could not find this statement that you quoted me as saying.

ooops. I associated the word 'nut' to be the same as 'idiot'.

my mistake for sure there. Apology submitted.

Sooo, were you meaning 'nut' to be the same as an 'idiot', or a person that should be supported with their commitment, or what???

CP, It probably was a combination of both. I am very new here, on this forum, and pretty much a middle of the roader, "a republican who voted for Bush the first time around and regretted it". Get used to me, I hope to be around for a while. You seem to be a smart and nice guy.

Smart???? I'm only one step ahead of my kids. :crack-up:

Sooo, as a result I'm constantly trying to use The Constitution as a guide and just wish others would recognize it for the success that it is.

That's too bad you're thinking someone exercising their 2nd amendment right is partially an idiot. I think it's that kind of thinking that's given those who would initiate violence the confidence of knowing their victims are easy prey.

The moron who went postal in your link should've been taken out by a responsible, law-abiding citizen prior to him killing the second person. But, too many Folks out there just don't want to be looked upon as an idiot...

Sad really.

I think that it is TO easy to get a CCW permit, when I got mine, a few years ago in Florida, they missed the two armed robbery convictions in California a few years ago.

I also have a good sense of humor!

I have had a CCW since they were first available in Oklahoma. I have also been trained in virtually every hand gun and shoulder weapon available.
When, and if, I carry is no one's business but mine.
Oh, and I have never killed anyone by accident.
