One good reason to have a CCW permit.

I carry, legally, any time I am off base. Never felt agony; sure did feel safer.

I don't buy that. I've been carrying since 91 or so. Never had someone call me a nut for doing so...
I guess my payment is safety and security of my family.
I use either a shoulder rig or an SOB holster. I do notice the extra weight...it reminds me of the fact that I do have a weapon. Not a bad thing in my opinion.

Eb, at this very moment I am looking at my Smith&Wesson airweight five shot with a hammer shroud. Great little handgun, 75 bucks new, in "1970".

Granted, nothing is more powerful than using your head to stay out of trouble, but those folks had no idea they should always go through the drive through...
I just hope enough responsible, law abiding citizens carry concealed enough to make folks THINK there's someone with enough power to take them out if they decide to 'go postal'.
I can only hope this was mostly in jest.

I live mostly in South Florida, I wear mostly Levi's and a tee shirt. I do not like to have the butt of a gun sticking out of my shirt. At that point it is no longer concealed. If you like the feel of a hand gun sticking you in the side while between your body and waistband, by all means go for it. I drive an expensive car and I pity anyone who would try to carjack it. If I go into a bad part of town I make arrangements to wear the proper clothing to carry a weapon. And by the way, if you were referring to me, I am not a gunsmith, but I have been trained to use one.

Kidding... of course.
AS WAS MENTIONED by YOU and others.... there are other ways to carry concealed than tucked into the waistband. So, the 'comfort' part is easily overcome in my opinion.
Anyway, this statement is the only one we need to address. Everything else I consider a diversion...

my mistake for sure there. Apology submitted.
Sooo, were you meaning 'nut' to be the same as an 'idiot', or a person that should be supported with their commitment, or what???

NUT
A crazy or eccentric person.
An enthusiast; a buff: a movie nut.

Sooo, as a result I'm constantly trying to use The Constitution as a guide and just wish others would recognize it for the success that it is.
That's too bad you're thinking someone exercising their 2nd amendment right is partially an idiot. I think it's that kind of thinking that's given those who would initiate violence the confidence of knowing their victims are easy prey.
The moron who went postal in your link should've been taken out by a responsible, law-abiding citizen prior to him killing the second person. But, too many Folks out there just don't want to be looked upon as an idiot...
Sad really.

I think that it is TO easy to get a CCW permit, when I got mine, a few years ago in Florida, they missed the two armed robbery convictions in California a few years ago.
I also have a good sense of humor!

When, and if, I carry is no one's business but mine.
Oh, and I have never killed anyone by accident.
