1. Read the first chapter of the Gospel of John (51 verses).
2. Take a piece of paper and write down all the titles you can remember the Apostle John used in identifying the Lord Jesus.
3. Think about these titles of Jesus; discuss them if doing this together with someone else.
4. Reread the chapter again, slowly this time.
5. Add any new titles of Jesus you remember this time through to your list.
Note: It's okay when doing this with another you would like to compare notes and discuss your rememberance together. This is the way we did it.
I’m thinking specifically of ten titles John uses to point to the Person of Jesus Christ. You may find twelve titles, and that’s okay. Post your score, or titles you find. Comments and discussion appreciated. J
The Gospel of John is different than the other three Gospels, in that John’s main thrust is pointing to who Jesus is. That’s why this Gospel is sometimes called the Book of the Seven Signs, since John chose seven sign-miracles to reveal the person and mission of Jesus. We may even say that the Gospel of John is the most theological of the four Gospels, because in it John deals with the nature and person of Jesus Christ and the meaning of faith in Him.
Blessings to you dear reader(s),
