I am asking if when you are posting pictures, everyone could please resize your pictures to a maximum of 600px Height and Width.

The main reason is that it makes it easier and quicker for others to view your images. When you take a picture with your digital camera it will normally store it at about 2050px high and wide. This quality allows you to use it in a variety of scenarios without loosing any quality (such as enlargements for hanging a pic on your wall).

For viewing on the web though it is an overkill - remembering that most user only have a screen size that is half as big. The image straight from a digital is also a very large file (around 1-5 to 2MBs) that translates to very long download times for most users.

So by reducing your image size you can upload quicker and others can see it quicker. The reduced size also reduces the strain on our site and heaps keep the costs down. As an example yesterday I reduced 6 images that had been attached in posts from 14MB to 0.9MB.

If you need a hand - please just ask us and we will help you out no problems. Normally though the program you use to view your pictures at home will have a resize button (always give the resized image a new name so you can keep the original/

A couple of guides are also below:

How to Resize a Picture With a Paint Program

Reduce or enlarge a picture on your computer using a paint program, such as Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop.

Steps:
1. Start the paint program. Using the File menu, locate the picture and open it.

2. Select Image from the menu bar. The resize command will be named Resize or Image Size. Locate and select the command.

3. Resize the image by changing the number of pixels, the size in inches, or the percentage.

4. Save the picture by selecting Save As from the File menu.
